Cecelia Pizano, MS CCC SLP

Speech Language Pathologist

I was introduced to communication disorders as an undergraduate student when a professor encouraged me to volunteer in a therapy clinic. There I observed a session that changed my life and set me on my path. I saw a 20 year old man with a brand new family struggling to cope with a head injury he acquired on a construction site. He was left with minimal language skills and I understood for the first time the value of something we take for granted each day--a life without the words to express your thoughts, ideas, desires, and frustrations.
After graduating from Texas State University, I started my career on the east coast and had the opportunity to work as Lead Speech Pathologist at a Washington, D.C. hospital. In 18 years of practice, my journey has taken me to many U.S. locations, many hospitals and rehab facilities and finally Oregon and PeaceHealth.
My experiences taught me how to see and treat the WHOLE person. Having branched out on my own I feel I can now provide the quality of care I have always endeavored to deliver to each of my patients. I value a patient and family centered approach that ensures collaboration in setting goals.
A communication impairment is humbling and down-right frustrating and sometimes requires really hard work. I strive to make speech therapy fun, engaging and something to look forward to!
